[Verse 1]
Say everything's better in the daylight So why'd you leave me in the dark? If you're gonna say something, say something Don't say nothing And you believe in something 'cause it sounds right And when you told me what I wanna hear Don't just say nothing, say nothing Just say something [Pre-Chorus] Don't blame me For the mess that you've been causing I believe Every word you didn't say Now I see You're only gonna break me down [Chorus] If you wanna say something Man up, don't say nothing Oh, I speak the truth (yeah, yeah) If you wanna say something Silence don't mean nothing But it does to you Heard the silence become a part of you [Verse 2] I been dreaming of your silhouette all night 'Cause I haven't seen it all If you wanna say something, say something Don't say nothing [Pre-Chorus] Don't blame me For the mess that you've been causing I believe Every word you didn't say Now I see You're only gonna break me down |
[
[Chorus] If you wanna say something Man up, don't say nothing Oh, I speak the truth (yeah, yeah) If you wanna say something Silence don't mean nothing But it does to you Heard the silence become a part of you Bridge] No, I'm not on my knees Begging for you For you to comfort me No, I don't want that Just needed your honesty But all I want now Is for you to speak to me Like you never did [Chorus] If you wanna say something Man up, don't say nothing Oh, I scream the truth (yeah, yeah) If you wanna say something Silence don't mean nothing But it does to you (yeah, yeah) If you wanna say something Man up, don't say nothing Or I scream the truth (yeah, yeah) [Outro] If you wanna say something Silence don't mean nothing But it does to you Now the silence is part of me and you |
Andrew Goodwin's Music Video Theory Goodwin :Andrew Goodwin proposed 5 key aspects to a music video:
|
This music video for the song 'Wherever You Will Go' is a great example on how I'm want to show the ex-boyfriend cheating on the protagonist of my music video.
I think it will be a good idea showing what happened with Grace and her cheating ex-boyfriend |
|
Pretty much in all music videos about breakups, the always have the protagonist being sad and heartbroken. This is stereo typically accompanied with low key lighting and sepia and green undertones. The music video for White Horse by Taylor Swift and Hello by Adele clearly shows this.
For y music video I want to have something similar to this. I want my protagonist |
|
During the music video there will be jump cuts of her (Grace) in an empty room with her cheating ex-boyfriend. They are looking at each other but not saying anything, working in synergy with the lyrics of the song:
"If you wanna say something Silence don't mean nothing But it does to you Heard the silence become a part of you" The camera will smoothly rotate around them, I will achieve this by using a steadicam or a gimble. |
|
Enlightenment: Christina Perri's music video for 'A Thousand Years' is extremely beautiful, and has many shots that i could recreate to show the audience the enlightenment that Grace has achieved after the breakup.
Below there is a visual dis-construction of some of my favorite shots from the music video and why. |
|
I really like the shot below, I think is very successful. She is staring into the distance, she is dark but the distance is light, suggesting that her future is bright, that even though she might be sad now, her future is waiting for her, full of opportunities and chances.
It's just her silhouette, this creates a sense of enigma and mystery. I believe shooting something similar for my music video would be a good idea due to the connotations of this scene matches perfectly with the narrative of my music video, the 'enlightenment' part of the narrative. Plus, it could be replicated easily. |
I believe this is the most successful scene of the music video. It is extremely successful and I think it would be a great idea to shoot something similar for my music video.
The bokeh (out of focus lights) reinforces the aesthetic of the music video increasing its appeal to the audience. The overall scenario provides to the audience the ability to understand the mental state of the actress/singer. She has let go of something that was holding her back, achieving emotional attachment and so enlightenment. |
For my music video I want to do something similar, as I believe it will communicate the narrative that I want to communicate successfully.
However, having that many candles in one room is going to be too dangerous and there is lots of possibilities of something catching on fire. I need to think of something that will produce the same or similar bokeh effect that will meet the health and safety guide. |
Possible props I could use to produce a similar effect:
Cons: Might look shabby, hard to edit and time consuming, will be hard to match the light for both of the videos when filming, there will on the actress' face from the light of the lights
Cons: You might be able to see the cables, they are not very bright, will need a lot of them, use up a lot of electricity
Cons: Will need a lot of them which will be really expensive, they aren't bright enough, will need a lot of batteries which will increase the cost. |
