The target audience of my products is mainly females from the age of 12-18, and fall into the ABC1C2 socioeconomic demographic. According to Braham Burton's theory of media grouping my target audience will also be fans of artists like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. They are mainly students that could be classified as mainstream, with interests like music, fashion and celebrity gossip. Based on Blumer and Katz's uses and gratifications theory, my target audience will buy and watch my products for escapism, identification and social interaction. Generation Z and Millenials are the social groups that my product will appeal to. For this audience ,online presence is a basic need, this is why I found extremely important that my website engages with them as much as possible by linking the artist social media platforms, including personal articles like playlist made by her (Helena), and an option to sign up to her newsletter. This interest that these two generations have provimes a really clear and simple path to distribute my products online. One of the advantages of distributing products online is that it's mainly free. Online marketing is now one of the most successful was to promote a product, with many campaigns going viral generating cash inflow that is dramatically higher that the cash outflow. To make sure my audience likes my music video, I spoke to various persons that will fit under my audience profile right at the beginning of the process. I told them my ideas and asked for their opinions, I wanted to know what they liked about my ideas and what they didn't, and with that information I changed my music video until in was something that they enjoyed. I believe this was a crucial stage in making sure my music video engages with my audience due to as Stuart Hall mentioned, an media text that an audience can not understand or relate to or decode is a media text that will not be successful. It is important to remember, when creating media texts, that the audience is not passive, but active, and will have different readings, from positive to oppositional, when consuming a product
As a real media text, my products will be distributed through KINGDOM Music Video Production Company conglomerate 'KINGDOM Distribution' . My products will be distributed mainly digitally, as the Global Revenues of the Industry in 2016 shows, 50% of the total income was from digital revenues, 34% from physical format sales (CDs, vinyl, casettes), 14% from performance rights (radio,shows,etc) and 2% from Synchronization revenues (movies and ad syncs). My digipack will be available in online stores like iTunes and Amazon, and streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal. Moreover, KINGDOM Distribution will provide a link to retail outlets, which include music-only stores, big-box retailers such as Tesco and Wal-Mart, and bookstores.
My music video will only be distributed online through video streaming companies like YouTube and Apple Music, as this is the main way artists distribute their music videos, as it is the way the music videos gains the most exposure.
My website will offer a wide range of merchandise, like t shirt, hoodies, iphone cases, and caps. This is not only a great way to engage with my audience, but it is also a great way to promote my products and gain brand recognition, as I mentioned in my research.
